Crusading the Cape

We arrived on Cape Cod around 10:30am, checked into the Sea Shell Motel and walked right onto the beach!

Finding a place to stay one night on the beach, at a reasonable price, during a holiday week was near impossible. Yes, we did the impossible and found this gem!

During the planning of this trip, I was under strict orders to " not plan ANYTHING during the day." It was difficult, but I managed to keep the cells in my Excel spreadsheet open.

Upon our drive in, Hillary immediately decided to plan our afternoon. We drove by a little seafood restaurant overlooking the water which was followed by kayakers maneuvering in a canal beside the restaurant. I was  told "We have to eat there!" And "We have to go kayaking".

Lunch was great! Hillary ordered Haddock and Scallops while I finally ordered my first Lobster Roll. Big shout out to Jill at work for the strong recommendation.

After lunch, we rented a tandem kayak and enjoyed a 1.5 mile jaunt to the ocean    through the canal. It was a fun trip and we got to watch a Pelican attempt to pull a fish out of the water. Turned out the Pelican bit off more than it could chew and had to use all of its power to drag the fish (still in the water) to shore and feast. Quite the site!

After kayaking, we then drove about 20 minutes to Chatham and got to see their famous lighthouse. (Again, this was Hillary's day)

After the visit to the lighthouse, we strolled through the downtown of Chatham. There's tons of little boutique stores, etc. We found a pizza parlor nearby by and decided to have dinner there and topped it off by walking across the street for ice cream.

After that, we walked a few blocks over to Veteran's Field where the Chatham Anglers hosted the Bourne Braves.

The team was featured in a movie that was popular about 10 years ago called Summer Catch. They shot the movie here and the field hasn't changed at all.

Chatham is currently in first place and it showed during the game. They won 8-4! I kept a roster of both teams to review in a few years to see who's now a household name in MLB.

After the game we drove about 20 minutes back to our hotel to crash for the night.

Next up..... Boston!
